Nailsea Flower Show

NAILSEA-OnLINE paid a visit to the NAILSEA and DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SPRING SHOW

The Nailsea and District Horticultural Society held their 29th Annual Spring Show, at Nailsea School, on 6th April 2002. This was the 3rd Annual Show held at the venue after having moved from the Scotch Horn Centre.

It was a rather blustery day - so we were glad to be indoors
This year saw over 700 entries, nearly 500 of which were daffodils. They were judged by a National Judge, who commented on the very high standard of the entries, and said they were amongst the best in the area.

Two of the regular exhibitors have been travelling all the way from Williton, Somerset to enter the show for many years. A special presentation was made to them, by Mr. Gildersleeve, Headmaster of Nailsea School who also presented trophies to the prize winners.

This visitor was intent on hiding ...

... but we got her anyway

There are lots of categories exhibited.

Here's a nice needlework piece from Mrs J Perry who won 1st prize in the class ...

... Mrs Knight, won 1st for the jam ...

... and the Society encourages all sorts of entries from the children

And finally we found Cyndy and friend working on the white-elephant stall
