but that is one of the first signs of a hearing loss - it's not them - it's your ears that are beginning to go.
Are you told by family and friends that you've got the telly on too loudly??
That's another sign...
So - what can you do about it?
· The first thing is to get your hearing checked out by your GP. If it is found that your hearing may be les than normal you'll be referred to an Audiology Department for a hearing test.
· The second thing to do is to join a Lipreading class - it's never
too early to begin to deal with your hearing loss. Classes are run for 30 weeks
in term time, and begin on Tuesday 9th September 2003
Your local classes are in
· Nailsea - at the Weston College Nailsea site - Wed 10th Sep 1.45 - 3.45pm then again in the evening from 7.30 - 9pm.
· Long Ashton at the British Legion Club Tuesday 9th Sept 10 - 12
· Yatton Methodist Church Hall Tuesday 9th Sept 1.30 - 3.30 and Thursday
11th Sept 10 - 12.
Come and join other people who understand how difficult a hearing loss is to
cope with, and learn about how best to help yourself. You'll be so glad you
did!!
The classes are run by professional Teachers of Lipreading to Adults, but don't
worry - they are friendly, relaxed classes and we laugh a lot!
Why not come and see for yourself how you can learn to improve the way you hear.
See you there!!
